It’s Not Too Late

While the holidays are fast approaching it is not too late to visit periodontist Dr. Denine Rice and her team to get the right periodontal care you need. Do you have missing? Research shows that once you lose one tooth it is likely you are going to lose another. Don’t let your smile be hidden, in another holiday family photo, because you are embarrassed.

When the holidays end, many times so do your insurance benefits for the year, but there are procedures that can be completed to give you the smile you’ve always wanted.

Implants look and act like real teeth. They are placed into the jawbone in order to provide stability to the tooth. It is important, if you receive implants, to brush and floss daily in order to keep from developing problems again in the future.

A fixed bridge is an alternative option as long as the teeth, jawbone and gum tissue on either side of the missing tooth are strong enough to hold the bridge. Since this does require that the gums are healthy – you wouldn’t want to build a house on a poor foundaton – it is in your best interest to visit your periodontist and determine if your gums are healthy and the bone strong enough to support your bridge..

It is important to have a consultation in order to determine which option is the best option for you to replace your missing teeth, and either way, it’s a good idea to speak to a specialist. While there are several options available due to the health of your gums and other teeth, one option may work better than other.

Contact Dr. DenineRice & her team today for options.

3 Consequences To Loosing A Tooth

When it comes to missing teeth, you might think it’s too expensive or that just one missing tooth is no big deal. Unfortunately, this is not the case and one missing tooth can cause multiple problems for your smile, your body and your career.

1.     Loss of self-confidence. Dr. Denine Rice states, "millions of Americans lose teeth everyday due to dental problems."  Once you lose a tooth, you may want to smile less, which can cause people to misread your body language.

2.     Missing teeth can cause speech impediments.  Certain sounds and words require your teeth to be in a certain position in order to make the sound correctly.

3.     Bone Loss. In order for your jawbone to continue to be stimulated, it requires your teeth to be able to move together. This helps generate bone growth.

Dr. Rice states, “Gaps in your smile can cause speech problems, self-confidence issues, and unwanted movement of other teeth.” Once teeth are missing, your other teeth will begin to shift into other locations.

Dr. Rice and her team can provide multiple solutions. If you are impacted by missing teeth and would like support in fixing your smile, contact Dr. Rice and her team today.

Bone Grafts Can Change Your Smile

Dr. Denine Rice and her team are able to provide multiple options if your smile is impacted by gum loss due to trauma, periodontal disease or oral cancer.  Your smile is as important as your body and bone grafting can provide an excellent way to restore your smile.

There are multiple types of bone grafts. Some use bone that is from an animal, but it can also be removed from other parts of your body and placed in the jawbone. Placing new bone in the jaw can strengthen bone that has been lost in order to place implants to restore missing teeth.  Depending on your needs, Dr. Rice may recommend the bone used for your procedure to be synthetically created in a lab. No matter which type of bone is utilized, the impact will allow you to have a restored and healthy smile.

If your jawbone has been impacted due to trauma and there are ridges in the jawbone, bone graft surgery can allow your jaw to have a more uniform look. Once the bone is placed in the right places, it will fuse to your jawbone.

Your smile is the universal way to communicate with the world. If your smile is communicating something other than health and happiness call Periodontist Dr. Denine Rice and her team today for more options.
