Teeth whitening has become a large business where individuals work to whiten their teeth using at home created remedies. Further monitoring of your whitening process can help to decrease problems with sensitivity or other problems.

Depending on the stains that cover your teeth, will depend on the number of treatments that are needed. It will also determine the treatment that is recommended in order to improve your smile. Improving your smile can help to increase your overall self-confidence and improve the way you look. Dental research suggests that individuals who are in the sales or customer service business may want to consider whitening treatments in order to help improve their overall appearance and draw people to you.

After Dental Implant After Care Procedure

If you have enjoyed the privilege of restoring your smile from a dental implant procedure it is important to follow the aftercare procedures in order to keep your smile healthy and happy. An implant is a surgical procedure where a titanium post is placed into the jawbone below the gum line which then creates a way for your general dentist to mount a replacement tooth. Once the dental implant is complete the tooth is solid in the jaw bone and cannot be removed like a denture. Implants are great because they do not have to be mounted to other teeth.

Implants do not move or shift in your mouth and add a benefit when speaking and eating. Bridges or dentures can move depending on the fit. Once you have your implant complete it is critical that you follow the post-surgical procedure plan in order to keep your implant secure and healing. An implant is similar to your real teeth and requires regular dental care.

Your periodontist will give you after-care procedures that may include utilizing a soft toothbrush for the first few weeks of healing. You will want to eventually begin to floss again, but this may take some time as your gums are healing. Floss is the only way to remove food from between the teeth and is a really important way to keep your smile healthy.

What Your Gums Are Trying To Tell You?

Your gums can communicate a lot. They can tell your periodontist whether you floss and brush regularly. They can tell your periodontist whether you are struggling with oral cancer or whether your diet is a healthy one, or if it is full of carbohydrates and fast food. Spending time with your periodontist can help you to figure out what healthy choices you want to put in place for your life. So, stop and listen to what your periodontist is saying your gums are telling him or her. Here are the signs your periodontist sees that tell them your gums and your body are crying for help.

If your gums are receding and they bleed when you brush and floss it means you have the early signs of periodontal disease. If this problem is left untreated, your gums will continue to pull away, potentially causing serious problems for you and your smile. Your gums are a pocket that should fit around your teeth tight, but when they are not taken care of it causes them to begin to pull away.

Do you enjoy pizza, bread, and chips? Diets high in carbohydrates tend to cause problems for your smile because those foods stick to your teeth and mix with the bacteria, that is already in your mouth. By not brushing and flossing properly it can cause decay and periodontal disease. Individuals who have periodontal disease are more likely to be impacted by heart disease then individuals who do not have periodontal disease.

Enjoy Thanksgiving Without The Negative Impact On Your Smile

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and you can see the mounds of different items that will be cooked at Thanksgiving dinner flooding the stores. Potatoes, turkey, breads and a variety of items that will be whipped, cooked, combined and enjoyed by families across America in a few short days. If your teeth could talk though, they would be warning you to be careful this holiday season and not indulge in foods that can damage your dental health.

Fruits and vegetables are a great way to counteract the high carbohydrates that are in a variety of the foods we consume during this meal. Stay away from the desire to add extra sugary items on top of your vegetables and avoid using a dip that is sweet for your carrots and celery. A low sugar dip can provide the great taste your guests are expecting without the problems of leaving food and sugar on their teeth for long periods of time.

Avoid foods that get stuck in your teeth or between your teeth. During this busy time, the first thing you think about may not be flossing your teeth immediately after eating. Avoiding foods such as crackers, a lot of turkey, and the marshmallows on candied yams can keep your smile and gums in a healthy state.
