Intraoral camera that can show decay and plaque, calculus, and gingival inflammation.

Each time you visit the dentist you are reminded to brush and floss. Only brushing and flossing (link to website video, or WebMD video or article) daily can prevent the accumulation of plaque and calculus which may lead to gingival inflammation and decay. Now the team at the Periodontal office of Dr. Denine Rice (link to website) have one more way to assist patients.

"We are always striving to improve the patient's experience in our office. Having the latest in technology is one way we can provide the information and education to help patients care for their teeth," says Dr. Rice.  "Because keeping our patients healthy is so important, we've recently added a new technology - an intra oral camera that can take photos and show inflammation, plaque build-up, calculus and even decay."

What does this mean for patients? "We have the ability to visually show patients where they are doing well with their home care, and where they may need to focus," says Dr. Rice. "We are passionate about helping patients achieve a healthier state."

Too Much Tooth

Often patients who have periodontal disease experience recession of the gum tissue, exposing more tooth structure and creating a less than optimal dental smile. In the past, not much could be done in these situations. Now though, there are more options.

"Here are before and after photos of a connective tissue graft using connective tissue from the palate w/ Emdogain," says Dr. Denine Rice from her Riverside, California periodontal practice. "I love to see these kind of results. So do the patients!"
